MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Three goaltenders on Minnesota college hockey teams are among candidates for the inaugural Mike Richter Award.

Minnesota’s Adam Wilcox (pictured above), Ryan Faragher of St. Cloud State and Minnesota Duluth’s Aaron Crandall are among 18 candidates announced Friday by Let’s Play Hockey and the Herb Brooks Foundation.

The Richter Award honors the top goalie in NCAA hockey.

Wilcox, a sophomore from South St. Paul, has 20 wins this season, third most in the nation and first in the Big Ten. He also ranks seventh nationally in goals against average (1.97) and 10th nationally in save percentage (.931). Wilcox has three shutouts this season.

Faragher, a junior, has 16 wins this season while Crandall, a senior, has 11.

The award will be presented at the Frozen Four in Philadelphia.
