Curiocity: Mike's Mix — Let It Rain

Every Friday, Mike Augustyniak picks up a new cocktail recipe from a local mixologist. While he was in Lake Elmo recently, Mike's learned a cocktail recipe at the Lake Elmo Inn. It's a cool, refreshing drink that'll be perfect to bring in those warmer temperatures.

Ingredients
2 oz. Rain Cucumber-Lime Vodka
¾ oz. St. Germain
¾ oz. fresh-squeezed lime juice
¼ oz. simple syrup
Cucumber wheels
Soda water

Directions
Fill a tall (Collins) glass with ice. Add fresh-squeezed lime juice and 2 wheels of cucumber to the glass. Pour in 1.5 oz. of cucumber-lime vodka, ¾ oz. of the St. Germain, and ¼ oz. of simple syrup (if you wish). Fill the glass the rest of the way with soda water. Use two straws to mix up the drink and "beat up" the cucumber to release its flavor. Garnish with a few shakes or turns of cracked pepper and a cucumber wheel.

Taste Test
We might be jumping the gun a bit on this one -- it definitely doesn't look or feel like spring outside -- but the light & refreshing flavor of Let It Rain will remind you of the warm, leisurely days we have to look forward to. Created by a server at the Lake Elmo Inn named Valerie, this drink was designed with the ladies in mind ... but bartender John says it's plenty popular with the guys, too.
