HINCKLEY, Minn. (AP) – The Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe is showcasing a bit of tribal culture during a weekend hand drum contest at Grand Casino in Hinckley.

The Saturday afternoon contest is free and open to the public. Teams from across the Midwest and Canada are expected to participate for their chance at a top prize.

The contest will feature teams of three to five male singers, with female backup singers.

The winning adult team will take home $1,500.

Those ages 6 to 17 can participate in a youth competition. The top youth prize is $400.
