19 Inches Of New Snow For Isanti, Minn.

DULUTH, Minn. (WCCO/AP) — Deep snow in parts of Minnesota and Wisconsin is proof of the weather adage that in April, just about anything can happen.

The National Weather Service reports 19 inches of new snow in Isanti Thursday, 17 inches in the Anoka County city of Nowthen and 15 inches in the northwestern Wisconsin community of Minong, Wis.

Ashland and Bayfield schools are closed in Wisconsin. Other districts, including Cloquet and Carlton schools in Minnesota, have delayed their start by two hours. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation says roads throughout the northern region of the state are snow covered.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation reports difficult driving conditions from Cook County southwest to Lincoln County.

Statewide, the Minnesota State Patrol said they responded to 47 crashes, 11 involving injuries but none that were serious or fatal and 62 vehicles off the road. A majority of the crashes were reported in the metro area.
