Taste Testing Now An Option At Farmers Markets

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A sure sign of spring arriving in the Twin Cities is the opening of area farmers markets.

The Minneapolis Farmers Market opens this weekend. And this year, you'll be able to do something new -- taste test the merchandise.

A bill signed by Gov. Mark Dayton last week legalizes food sampling and cooking demonstrations at farmers markets across the state.

Before, most vendors wouldn't let you sample any of their products due to the potential fines they faced.

The Nicollet Mall market in downtown Minneapolis opens up on Thursday.

The big spring opener for the Minneapolis Farmers Market is this Saturday, and St. Paul's Farmers Market kicks into its spring hours next weekend.
