MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – It’s almost the weekend, so let’s get planning. This weekend you can eat and drink local, take a horse or pony ride, or get in your first farmer’s market visit for the season.

Farmers Markets
One sure sign of spring is that farmers markets are starting to open. This weekend, the St. Paul Farmers Market and the Minneapolis Farmers Market will be open for business. Get your fresh foods starting at 6 a.m. Saturday.

Minnesota Horse Expo
This weekend is also the Minnesota Horse Expo. Three-hundred horses from 50 different breeds will be on display or performing at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. Head to the Coliseum for 800 booths filled with horse-related information and products. And for the kids, there are free horse, pony and wagon rides.

Savor Minnesota
Local wine, food and beer will take center stage at the Savor Minnesota Tasting Event. Attendees can taste samples from 40 Minnesota wineries, breweries and food companies at Canterbury Park this Saturday. It’s a chance to celebrate Minnesota’s growing wine, beer and food industries. All attendees will receive a wine glass for sampling and an event booklet with a list of the items available, space to take notes on each exhibitor and more than $100 in discounts from participating exhibitors.
