Twins' Minor Leaguer Hinojosa Suspended 50 Games

NEW YORK (AP) — Minnesota Twins infielder Jonatan Hinojosa has been suspended for 50 games following a positive drug test under baseball's minor league drug program.

The 21-year-old player is on the roster of Cedar Rapids of the Class A Midwest League. The commissioner's office said Saturday he tested positive for metabolites of Nandrolone.

Twenty-three players have been suspended this year under the minor league drug program. Under that program, the penalty for an initial PEDs testing violation increases to 80 games for samples collected after April 1.

Hinojosa hit .236 with 15 RBIs and 10 steals for the Gulf Coast League Twins last year and was 0 for 3 on Wednesday in his only game for Cedar Rapids.
