Wild Focusing On Must-Win Game 6, Fans Hope For Fair Calls

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A game five loss for the Minnesota Wild means Monday's match-up against the Colorado Avalanche is a must win.

As the game came to an end Saturday night at the Pepsi Center in Denver, it looked like the Wild might get the win after pulling ahead late in the third period.

However, the game came to a dramatic end when Nathan McKinnon of the Avalanche scored about 3:30 minutes into overtime. Final score 4-3.

Wild fans and the team immediately questioned what they believed were missed calls by the referees. Fans quickly took to social media complaining the refs missed an off-sides call that eventually led to the tying goal and ultimately, the overtime loss.

While fans are still upset, the team is now focused on Game 6. It will be played at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul giving the team the home ice advantage.

"We have to go home and take care of business there and then come here and win a game. That's all there is to it," said Wild defenseman Ryan Suter.

"We knew coming in that this is a team that won the division, a team that's a skilled group and never once did we think this is going to be easy. We go in task-at-hand and now it's simple. We go and play the same way we did at home," said Wild Coach Mike Yeo.

There will be another pre-party for Wild fans outside the Xcel Energy Center Monday night from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.

All fans can take part in food and music outside Gate 2. Fans attending the game will get access to the pre-game party inside Gate 4.

There will be face painting, games and autograph signings from former NHL players.

The puck drops at 8 p.m.
