MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – It’s almost the weekend, so let’s get planning. It’s the first weekend in May, and you can celebrate with a couple of parades and superheroes.

Cinco de Mayo Fiesta
Monday is Cinco de Mayo, but many will celebrate this Saturday at St. Paul’s Cinco de Mayo Fiesta. It’s one of the 10 largest festivals of its kind, attracting more than 100,000 visitors to District del Sol on St. Paul’s West Side. Embracing the colorful history and rich traditions of Hispanic and Latino culture, this family-friendly experience features six blocks of food, music, dancing, and a colorful parade.

Minneapolis Comic Con
This weekend there will be a lot of superheroes walking around downtown. It’s for the inaugural Minneapolis Comic Con at the Convention Center. Comic artists, writers and exhibitors will be on hand, plus many celebrity guests including William Shatner.

May Day Parade
For many in Minnesota, May is a time to celebrate the coming warmth. You can do that Sunday at the May Day parade and festival at Powderhorn Park. More than 50,000 people from near and far will fill the streets as participants and spectators for this day of celebration. There will be multiple stages of music, performing arts, food and beverages. The parade starts at noon, and festivities wrap up at 7 p.m.
