MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Two people are dead after a head-on crash in Cass County Saturday, according to authorities.

The Minnesota State Patrol said the accident happened around noon Saturday at the intersection of Country Road 75 and Leech Lake Route 438.

A 2003 Kia Spectra was driving southbound on County Road 75 when a 1999 Chevy Tahoe, headed northbound, swerved into the southbound lane in a no passing zone, forcing another vehicle off the road before colliding head-on with the Kia.

Both the driver, 47-year-old Lisa Collins and the passenger, 46-year-old Timothy Collins, both of Cass Lake, of the Kia died in the accident.

The driver and the passenger of the Chevy Tahoe suffered serious injuries. The driver was identified as 27-year-old Michael Spangel, of Cass Lake, and the passenger as 47-year-old Stacy Stangel, of Longville.

The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating the incident.
