Postal Workers Picking Up Food For 'Stamp Out Hunger'

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Mail carriers will be doing more than just delivering letters on Saturday. They'll also be picking up groceries.

Their efforts are going to be taken in conjunction with "Stamp Out Hunger" Day.

"It's our largest one-day national food drive," Samantha Hartwig said.

This marks the 22nd year of the event, during which postal workers will collect non-perishable food items.

"Pasta, canned fruits, cereal," Hartwig said. "Everything that's donated stays here local."
