MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Coming off its second Frozen Four appearance in three years and a trip to the national championship game, the University of Minnesota men’s hockey program announced its schedule Thursday for the 2014-15 season.

It will be the 94th season of Gophers hockey and they’ll be looking to defend a Big Ten Conference regular season championship. It will also be the 15th season for the program under head coach Don Lucia.

For the first time since the 2009-10 season, the Gophers will start on the road as they head to Notre Dame for the Icebreaker Tournament Oct. 10-11, which includes the host, Minnesota-Duluth and RPI. The Gophers will open the home regular season against Bemidji State Oct. 24-25. They follow that with a home-and-home series against rival St. Cloud State.

Minnesota will open the Big Ten Conference schedule at Michigan State Dec. 5-6. The Gophers will host the second-annual Northstar College Cup Jan. 23-24, which will include Minnesota State University, Mankato, Minnesota-Duluth and Bemidji State.

The Big Ten Conference Tournament is March 19-21 in Detroit, Mich.
