MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A parade in Trempealeau County, Wis. was interrupted when a participant was accidentally run over by a float on Sunday afternoon.

According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, the accident happened at Broiler Fest just before 2:30 p.m. on WIS 95 at St. Joseph’s Avenue near the city of Arcadia, which is 2 ½ hours southeast of the Twin Cities.

The victim, Joshua Paulson, was handing out candy while riding on a float that was atop a trailer being pulled by a pick-up truck.

While trying to get off the float to hand out more candy, Paulson slipped, fell and was run over by the float.

He was airlifted to an area hospital where he was treated and released.
