MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Frank Vascellaro and Chris Shaffer continued their adventures in the Willmar Lakes Area Friday, enjoying the gorgeous 80-degree weather. It was part of our Goin’ To The Lake: All Summer Long event, in which the familiar faces of WCCO-TV and WCCO Radio will hit the road every week to explore and celebrate lake country. The first place the guys showed us Friday was actually a gem they visited on the way to the Willmar Lakes Area, which is about 100 miles west of the Twin Cities. This gem is a barbecue joint in Grove City called Hog-n-The Road.
The guys got loads of food – ribs, pulled-pork sandwiches – which you can see in the video below.

Finding things to do in the Willmar Lakes Area is easy. The guys spent part of Friday on a field trip to the Prairie Woods Environmental Center with some fourth graders from Minnewaska.
It was a wonderful day for hiking, just look at the green trails! Frank and Chris — along with the kids — also found lots of insects and other little critters.
“Having permission to dig in mud is fantastic,” Frank said.

The guys also visited the town of New London, which is on the Crow River. There, the guys enjoyed the weather while watching a water ski show put on by the Little Crow Ski Team.
The president of the ski team said the show is a family-orientated event.
“We have families that comes from a 100-mile radius to join the team and participate,” he said.
Along with the ski show, Frank and Chris also got to check out some unique Adirondack chairs. They were designed by local artists as part of a Spicer beautification project. Spicer is just a few miles south of New London.
The chairs will be auctioned off in August.

On Thursday, the guys hit the race track at KRA Speedway, where Frank proved to be the better driver.
But on Friday, the two got competitive again, but this time at the Eagle Creek Golf Course.
See who’s the better mini golfer, and who’s better at go-karts.
