MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – If you are still making your plans for National Doughnut Day, which occurs this Friday, there’s one shop in the Twin Cities that may be a little tougher to get into.

That’s because USA Today just ranked Glam Doll Donuts in Minneapolis among their ten best doughnut shops in the entire country.

Glam Doll, which is on Nicollet Avenue just south of 26th Street, is known for its nutty ‘nuts throughout the metro area. But USA Today took particular note of the attention the shop has been getting in the national media as well. The Wall Street Journal mentioned them, as did Huffington Post, and just a few months ago they were cited by the website Thrillist as one of the top doughnut bakeries in the U.S.

The company earned some viral recognition for the donuts they served up in honor of Miley Cyrus when she played the Xcel Energy Center earlier this year.

As Thrillist did, USA Today praised the Chart Topper, made with peanut butter and Sriracha. The newspaper also cited their Daddy Dearest, made with a Surly beer glaze and bacon, the Flirty Frenchie, which has espresso cream cheese, and the “almost too pretty to eat” Night Moves, which has blackberry Hennessy and brown sugar.

And for what it’s worth, if the lines are out the door at Glam Doll on Friday, the next closest option among USA Today’s top 10 is Doughnut Vault in Chicago.
