Hennepin Co. Sheriff: If You Have A Warrant, Surrender

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Hennepin County Sheriff Rich Stanek has a message for people with active warrants: Turn yourself in before officers come knocking at the door.

On Sunday, the sheriff's office announced that there will be a warrant sweep Tuesday to clear active warrants and make arrests. Law enforcement officials will be looking for over 160 people , many who are repeat offenders with multiple active warrants.

"Do not become a fugitive of the law by ignoring a warrant; it's not going to go away on its own. You need to make the right decision and turn yourself in before officers come knocking at the door because we will make sure you are held accountable," Stanek said.

The warrant sweep will focus on offenders facing drug-related charges and will continue through the rest of June.

A wanted person can surrender at the sheriff's office or their local police department.
