ALEXANDRIA, Minn. (AP) –€” Three elderly people have died in two separate traffic crashes in Minnesota.

The Minnesota State Patrol says an 89-year-old man and 87-year-old woman died in a head-on crash on Highway 71 near Bemidji Tuesday afternoon. The patrol says the couple’s southbound car was struck by a northbound vehicle. No information was available on the driver of the northbound vehicle.

Also Tuesday afternoon, a 93-year-old passenger in a transport van died northwest of Alexandria when the vehicle collided with a truck trying to make a turn off county Road 8. The truck driver and two others in the transport van suffered non-life threatening injuries.
