Sheriff: Man Dies After Falling From Roof In SW Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 23-year-old man from southwestern Minnesota died Saturday after falling while doing work on his roof, according to the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities responded to a report of a medical caused by a fall at about 6:27 p.m. on the 65000 block of Highway 12 in Darwin Township. When officers arrived, a man was putting tin on the roof of a chicken barn when a board in the roof broke and he fell 28 feet to a concrete floor below. Emergency personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.
The man was identified as Ruben Rodrigo Esquivel Solis of Okabena. Authorities said he was employed by Pro-X Builders, Inc., out of South Dakota and was subcontracted to build chicken barns for the Sparboe Company out of Litchfield. There were no other injuries in the incident.
The Meeker County Sheriff’s Office said the accident is still under investigation.
