Police ID Victim, Suspect In St. Paul Homicide

ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) – A 25-year-old man is dead after a shooting in St. Paul Wednesday and a 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident, according to St. Paul Police.

Authorities were called just after noon on Wednesday to a report of shots fired at the intersection of Arcade Street and Case Avenue. As officers arrived, they learned a man had suffered a gunshot wound to his chest.

He was taken to Regions Hospital, where he later died.

St. Paul Police identified the victim Thursday as Lamar Hale of St. Paul. The suspect was identified by police as Chaveze Ward of St. Paul. Authorities said Ward could be charged in the incident as early as Thursday.

What led up to the incident remains under investigation.
