MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities said a 24-year-old Hopkins man is dead after a drowning at a western Wisconsin lake on Sunday.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office was called at about 10:25 a.m. to a residence on Kemah Park Lane on Balsam Lake on a report of a missing swimmer. When officers arrived, they were told a male and female were swimming out to a raft and when the woman go to the raft, the man wasn’t behind her.

Emergency personnel from several agencies were called to the lake and a search started immediately in an attempt to find the missing swimmer. At about 11:43 a.m., authorities pulled the body of a man identified as Deangelo L. Williams out of about 10 feet of water. His body was found about 30 yards from the dock at the residence.

Williams was pronounced dead at the scene. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said what led up to the drowning in still under investigation.
