Twins Blog: All-Star Game Food

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) –When the All-Star Game is here next week, baseball will be all the buzz.

Until then, we can dream about what the week will be like and drool over the new choices at the concessions.

The Twins revealed some new food items special for the game.

I hope you like bacon, baseball fans.

In no particular order, here they are:

The Hangover Burger

The Hangover Burger has my mouth watering.

It's a pound (a pound!!) of beef and bacon (10 ounces of beef, six ounces of bacon), topped with two slices of cheese (one is never enough), a sunny-side up egg, lettuce and onion with a special sauce. As you can see in the photo, it's two stacked patties. That should fill you up until the 7th inning stretch.

The Brat Dog

The Brat Dog is for meat lovers who want a little bit of everything. It's a foot-long hot dog inside a brat. Then, to make it more delicious, it's been wrapped in bacon and covered with a healthy helping of onions, peppers and sauerkraut. It's served on a pretzel roll.

Double Play Dog

If you can't decide what you want, perhaps the Double Play Dog is for you.

It's half bratwurst, half Kramarczuk's Polish sausage, and all on a hoagie bun. The brat is topped with sauerkraut and peppers. The Polish is covered with cheese and pico de gallo.

Could be great for sharing, or could be good if you can't make up your mind.

The Lobster Corn Dog

The Lobster Corn Dog is what it sounds like. Pieces of lobster, deep fried and placed on a stick. Just like you'd expect to enjoy at the State Fair.

Bigger, Better, Burger Bloody Mary

The new Bigger, Better, Burger Bloody Mary will come with a bacon cheeseburger slider as garnish, or you can choose from a bacon or brat garnish.

Delaware North SportService, the company that runs the concessions, is also highlighting local favorites that Twins fans already enjoy. They include Mac's Fish and Chips, Butcher and the Boar's BBQ Basket of Rib Tips and Murray's Steak sandwich.

Murray's expects to serve 1,200 steak sandwiches, while The Butcher and the Boar expects to sell 700 orders of BBQ Rib Tips.

To wash it down, go ahead and pour yourself a beer.

That's right, you can pour it yourself!

The Twins debuted a self-serve beer station this weekend at Target Field. It was the first time one's been used in a Major League Baseball game.

There'll be two on the main concourse during the All-Star Game events. They allow fans to decide how much beer they want at a time, up to 48 ounces every 15 minutes.

You'll need a pre-loaded card to buy the drinks and will need to show ID before serving yourself.

Options include, Bud, Bud Light, Shock Top Lemon Shandy and Goose Island 312 Urban Pale Ale. The beer costs 38 to 40-cents per ounce depending on what you select.

Of course, all the other concession favorites will be available like nachos, pizza, pretzels, popcorn and hot dogs. The Twins have also placed a super-sized order of the traditional favorites.

Over a thousand pounds of ground beef is ready to be made into burgers.

DNC ordered 5,000 pieces of chicken fingers, 1,500 orders of French fries and 4,000 servings of nachos. Peanuts will be popular at the All-Star Game too. 2,000 pounds of peanuts will be ready for fans at Target Field. DNC will also serve 32,000 gallons of soda and water at the ball park.

Since Target Field already has some of the best food you can get at a baseball game, the biggest problem fans will have is deciding what to enjoy.
