Sheriff: Man, 23, Drowns In Douglas County Lake

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities said a 23-year-old Alexandria man died Wednesday night in a drowning incident in a Douglas County lake.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office was called to Maple Lake on the 12000 block of Forada Beach Road SE just after 5 p.m. on a possible drowning and that a victim was found in the lake. When officers arrived, the man had been recovered from the water and emergency personnel initiated efforts to resuscitate him.

Those efforts were unsuccessful and the victim was later pronounced dead at the scene. The victim was identified as Ryan Douglas Dodds of Alexandria. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by Douglas County Water Patrol, the Douglas County Dive/Rescue team, Forada First Responders and North Ambulance.

The incident and what led up to the drowning is under investigation by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office and the Ramsey County Medical Examiner.
