Working For The Weekend: Entertainment Best Bets
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — It’s Thursday, and that means it’s time to set into stone your plans for an entertaining weekend. This week’s suggestions from Jason Matheson include jazz for adults and a new ride for the kids.
Car Craft Summer Nationals Car Show
Three days’ worth of every car imaginable will be on parade at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds this weekend — with “street machines and muscle cars” galore. The Car Craft Summer Nationals Car Show will run from Friday through Sunday. One day passes are $15 at the gate, $26 for two days, or $39 for all three. Children 10 and under get in for free.
Alison Scott — Dakota Jazz Club
One of Jason’s favorite vocalists on the scene right now is singer-songwriter Alison Scott. Check out her gutsy singing at the Dakota on Friday at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15.
It’s going to be nice out this weekend, but Jason says you may want to head indoors to try out the new zip line at the Mall of America Nickelodeon Universe amusement park. It starts about 55 feet off the ground, so those with a fear of heights need not apply. [UPDATE: The zip line opening has been postponed to sometime next week. Still, there are a lot of other rides there that will still be open this weekend.]
