MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities have identified a Northfield man who died last Friday after falling from a third-floor window in Columbia Heights.

Police were called to the 900 block of 46 ½ Ave. NE at about 3 a.m.  on July 25 on a report that a man had fallen out of a third floor window. When officers arrived, they found a man on the ground and despite attempts to save his life, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Anoka County Cmdr. Paul Sommer said there’s a possibility that some drug use was involved in the fall. Sommer says two witnesses told investigators the man simply fell through the window screen.

The man was identified Monday by the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office as 44-year-old Brett Roger Bamonte.
