MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities are looking for the driver of a car that hit two bicyclists on a frontage road late Saturday night and left the scene, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
The incident happened at about 11:52 p.m. on the 14000 block of 60th Street North in Oak Park Heights. When officers arrived, they learned two bicyclists were traveling westbound on a frontage road along Highway 36 when they were both hit by a vehicle that then fled the scene. Minnesota State Patrol Lieutenant Eric Roeske said the injured bikers did not see the car.
A 35-year-old woman from Minneapolis was seriously hurt in the accident and taken to Regions Hospital. A 37-year-old man from St. Paul was also taken to Regions Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The Minnesota State Patrol said the accident is under investigation as they have no leads on a suspect vehicle.
“We believe based on the evidence and injuries, the vehicle would have damage on the front end of the vehicle,” Roeske said.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office and Oak Park Heights Police are assisting in the investigation. Anyone with information should call the State Patrol (651) 539-1151.
