MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Minneapolis Police are asking for the public’s help to find a suspect in an attempted armed robbery of a business on July 26.

Authorities said on that day, a man walked into a gas station on the 2600 block of Broadway Avenue in Minneapolis with a mask on and displayed a silver semi-automatic handgun. The store clerk and suspect exchanged gunfire before the suspect left the scene on a black BMX bike.

The store clerk is registered and licensed to carry a firearm. Nobody was hit or injured in the exchange of gunfire, and no money was taken from the store.

The suspect is described as black male, 27 or 28, and about 5 feet, 7 inches tall with a medium build. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.
