Klobuchar Trying To Protect Young Minds From False Advertising

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) is pushing legislation to protect young athletes from concussions.

The legislation would crack down on false advertising and misleading claims that certain protective gear can prevent concussions.

It would also provide education to coaches, parent and players about the dangers of concussions.

"It's important that scientist and manufacturers continue to work together to come up with the safest gear possible to make sure parents know they are getting the safest gear," she said.

The Minnesota Department of Health says student athletes are most at risk for concussions when playing football, hockey, baseball, basketball and soccer.
