MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A man was badly hurt Saturday afternoon after being pinned in a car that rolled down into a ravine in western Minnesota, according to the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities were called at about 2:15 p.m. on a report of a one-vehicle accident with injuries at the intersection of Highways 7 and 59 in Tunsberg Township. When officers arrived, a vehicle had gone off the roadway and down into a steep ravine.

The driver was able to escape the vehicle with minor injuries, but immediately called for help from vehicles passing by as a passenger in the car was trapped. Emergency personnel had to extricate that victim from the car, and he was airlifted to North Memorial Medical Center. There has been no update on the man’s condition.

Authorities said the driver was taken to Chippewa County/Montevideo Hospital, where he was treated and released. The accident remains under investigation by the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office.
