Police: Man, 56, Drowns In Sauk River

MINNEAPOLIs (WCCO) – A man, 56, allegedly drowned Sunday afternoon after he went swimming in the Sauk River near St. Cloud, Minn.

According to the Stearn's County Sheriff's Office, the St. Cloud Police Department received a call about a man in the Sauk River around 12:47 p.m. Sunday.

The caller stated the man had been pulled out of the water onto the shore, but was unresponsive and blue.

Upon arrival, officials attempted to resuscitate the victim, but were unsuccessful.

According to officials, the victim had been with friends at an apartment complex earlier, but left his friends to walk into the river.

Police said no on witnessed him walking into the river, but there were witnesses to him swimming and diving in the shallow water.

After he had been gone quite some time, his friends went to go look for him. He was found in the water.

Police said the victim was pronounced dead on the scene.

The incident is still under investigation, although no foul play is suspected.
