MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – One person is dead after a car hit a guard rail twice and then eventually struck the side of a bridge in Edina Wednesday night, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Authorities responded to the crash at about 5:38 p.m. Wednesday on southbound Highway 100 at 77th Street. When officers arrived, a 2009 Audi A8 was heading southbound when it hit a guard rail twice, went off the road and went up a hill before hitting the concrete side of a bridge.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene. He was later identified as 39-year-old Justin D. Johnson, of Lakeville.

What led up to the crash is under investigation by the Minnesota State Patrol with assistance from the Edina Police Department.
