MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A new vaccine against a virus spread by mosquitos is showing promise in early tests.

The virus is called Chikungunya.

It showed up in the U.S. for the first time this year and can cause debilitating joint pain.

Researchers injected 25 healthy people with the vaccine, all developed high levels of antibodies to fight the virus after the second shot.

Larger tests will be need before the vaccine could be available to the public.
