AP Continues To Prove His Leadership
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minnesota Vikings kick off their season in St. Louis this weekend.
The curiosity factor watching Norv Turner's offense is off the charts. All of us can figure out one of his main plays: hand the ball off to Adrian Peterson.
A.P. is rather fired up to get this going. He has practiced, but not played yet. But even on this field, Peterson tries to hit.
"It's kind of like a one-sided thing. A lot of defense players come to me and complain about it because I do look for contact, and I kind of give the guys a shoulder or two from time to time," Peterson said.
What he has also done is try to bond with Head Coach Mike Zimmer, and continue to establish himself as a team leader.
"He's been great with me from the first day that I met him. He came in, sat down, talked to my office about a lot of different things," Zimmer said. "He's got a good personality, he's not afraid to say what he thinks."
The St. Louis Rams have a special place in their hearts for Peterson. They like to talk to him on the field, and a lot.
"They said enough to make me fire back, and like I say, normally I'm the assassin out there -- the talking assassin," Peterson said. "From the secondary on down, those guys were talking so much noise."
One of the biggest questions down in St. Louis is how will the Vikings use Peterson? If he didn't play in the preseason and he's got a new coaching staff, let that chess game begin.
Because accounting for Number 28 is a challenge. Not knowing what you might have to account for is kind of fun.
"You'll just have to wait and see," Peterson said.
The Vikings face off against the Rams Sunday at noon.
