Boil Water Order Lifted In Brainerd

BRAINERD, Minn. (AP) — A boil order has been lifted in Brainerd, which has the largest unchlorinated drinking water system in Minnesota.

The city's utility lifted the water boil order Tuesday night after 40 new tests for bacteria came back negative. The new tests were ordered on Monday. The city will now have to chlorinate the water for 30 days as per agreement with the Minnesota Department of Health.

A recent thunderstorm knocked out power to Brainerd's water system, opening the door to contamination. That prompted the contamination tests and boil order.
