WCCO Interview: Widow Of Ebola Victim Creates Nonprofit

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Latest figures from the Ebola outbreak in East Africa put the death toll at more than 2,600 people.

In Brooklyn Center this week there will be a memorial service to remember the first American citizen to die of the virus.

Patrick Sawyer died on July 24 in Liberia. He was the father of three girls, and a diplomat with the Liberian Ministry of Finance.

His widow, Decontee Sawyer, has created a nonprofit to help the families of Ebola victims with everything from outreach to medical supplies.

Esme Murphy spoke with her on Sunday morning about her husband and the deadly virus that took his life.
