Wisconsin Man Pleads Guilty In Parents' Killings

WASHBURN, Wis. (AP) — An Iron River man has pleaded guilty to killing his parents last winter.

Under a plea deal, 45-year-old Jim Crain Jr. pleaded guilty in Bayfield County to two counts of second-degree intentional homicide. WDIO-TV reports the state is recommending 15 to 20 years in prison on each count.

Crain was accused of killing his parents — 79-year-old James Crain and 76-year-old Eunice Crain — in the couple's Iron River apartment on Dec. 7, 2013.

According to the criminal complaint, Eunice Crain was able to call authorities before she died. When officers arrived, they found the couple dead with towels over their heads, lying in the dining room. Their son was in the bathroom with a blood-covered butcher knife and wounds on his neck and wrists, apparently self-inflicted.

Sentenced is scheduled for Dec. 2.
