Mpls. Police Issue Crime Alert After Parking Ramp Assaults

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Minneapolis police have issued a crime alert after two assaults occurred within hours of each other in a downtown parking lot.

Both assaults took place Tuesday afternoon against women in the Parking Ramp C of Minneapolis at 2nd Avenue and North 3rd Street.

According to police, the first assault took place around 2 p.m.

Police said the suspect asked the victim for a dollar, and when the victim refused he grabbed her hand and force her between two cars.

A third person, who police believe was uninvolved with the incident, appeared in the ramp at that time and scared the suspect off.

The second assault happened around 4:40 p.m.

Police said this time the suspect forced a woman into her car and assaulted her.

The suspect then fled, but was chased by citizens who lost track of him behind Pizza Luce.

Police believe the suspect was the same in both assaults.

He is described as a light-skinned black male in his 20s with short curly hair. He is roughly six feet tall and thin.

In the first assault, the suspect was described as wearing baggie jeans, an unknown shirt and a dull, black leather coat.

In the second assault, the suspect was described as wearing baggie jeans and a plaid shirt.
