Police: Minnesota Man Dies After Stun Gun Shooting

HERMANTOWN, Minn. (AP) — The Hermantown Police Department says a man has died a week after officer shot him with a stun gun.

Police said Monday the Hermantown man died in a hospital on Sept. 26. They say he experienced an undisclosed "medical event" shortly after officers stunned him on Sept. 19. Autopsy results are pending.

His name hasn't been released.

Police say the man was armed and screamed at officers to shoot him when they responded to reports of a person in crisis at a home. They say he ran toward an officer, who stunned him. The man remained standing before complying with instructions to get on his knees.

Police say officers performed CPR until paramedics arrived following the "medical event."

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting in the investigation.
