Wells Fargo To Pay $5M To Over Discrimination Complaint

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A $5 million settlement has been reached between the federal government and Wells Fargo.

The settlement will resolve allegations that the bank discriminated against pregnant women, new mothers and women on maternity leave.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development says Wells Fargo refused to make loans available to some women based on their gender or family status.

Despite finding no violations of any laws, the company says they'll settle to avoid a legal battle.
