Wild Hire Richard Park As Player Development Coach
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — The Minnesota Wild have brought back another former player for a job in the organization, hiring Richard Park as a player development coach.
The appointment was announced Tuesday for Park, whose responsibilities will include working with players with the affiliate Iowa Wild in the AHL. The 38-year-old Park played 14 seasons in the NHL, including three with the Wild.
Four of his teammates from the 2003 squad that reached the Western Conference finals currently have roles with the Wild. Andrew Brunette and Darby Hendrickson are assistant coaches, Brad Bombardir is the director of player development and Wes Walz is a TV studio analyst who has also worked with Wild-sponsored youth camps.
The Wild also announced Tuesday that right wing Stu Bickel cleared waivers and was assigned to Iowa.
