'Fish House Frenzy' Scrambles To Build Ice Houses For A Good Cause

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) - They call it the Fish House Frenzy.

Construction companies are building ice houses for charity--but they only have 24 hours to finish.

The Frenzy officially started at 7 a.m. Friday and competition is intense.

The houses each have a few special features, like heated floors, a cigar holder and even flat screen TVs.

Saturday morning, they'll auction off the tricked out ice houses.

All the money raised goes to Rebuilding Together Twin Cities, which provides home repairs for low-income homeowners.

"We go in and make repairs [for] homeowners who either can't do it themselves or don't have the resources to do it themselves," said Kathy Greiner, the organization's executive director.

The auction starts Saturday at 10 a.m. at Joe's Sporting Goods in St. Paul.

There will also be a raffle where you could win one of the ice houses.
