Minneapolis Street Sweeping Begins Oct. 21

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Minneapolis city officials said Friday that with fall here, crews will soon begin street sweeping.

Officials with Minneapolis Public Works said street sweeping will begin Oct. 21 and last about four weeks. Drivers who park on city streets will need to move their cars so crews can do an adequate job of cleaning up city streets. Officials said about 1,100 miles of city streets will cleaned throughout the process.

City officials said signs will go up Monday to show parking restrictions for street sweeping. Parking is banned from 7 a.m. to 54:30 p.m. on the day a street will be swept. Signs will be removed as soon as residents can resume parking on the street. Vehicles left on the street during sweeping are subject to ticketing and towing to the Minneapolis Impound Lot.

Residents are encouraged to follow the City of Minneapolis on Twitter and "like" them on Facebook to stay updated on street sweeping.

Crews will also be doing leaf collection starting Oct. 21.
