Health Watch: Drinking Soda Can Speed Aging Process

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- There's a new reason to avoid sugary drinks.

It's already known that too much soda can create a higher risk for diabetes, heart disease and stroke -- not to mention what it will do to your teeth. Now, add 4-and-a-half years of extra aging to the list.

Scientists in California say drinking soda daily can speed up the shrinking of certain cells that make you look older.

According to the study, one in five Americans drink a 20-ounce soda every day.
