Man Who Fled Minneapolis Courtroom Sentenced To 16 Years
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A man who escaped from a Hennepin County courtroom has been sentenced to more than 16 years in prison for attempted murder and robbery.
Twenty-five-year-old Michael Henderson of Richfield was in shackles and handcuffs at Friday's sentencing. Five deputies were in the courtroom and more inside the stairwells.
Last month, Henderson fled from the courtroom and sheriff's deputies after a jury found him guilty of attempted murder, second-degree assault and robbery. He was arrested the next morning after he was found sleeping in a car in south Minneapolis.
The jury convicted Henderson of robbing a Sam's Club store in Bloomington last March and pointing a pistol at employees. Authorities say he also tried to carjack a number of vehicles at gunpoint.
Henderson was charged last week with escape from custody.
