Vikings' Rookie Anthony Barr Named NFC Defensive Player Of The Week

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minnesota Vikings' 22-year-old first round draft pick has been named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week after his game-winning performance Sunday.

Rookie linebacker Anthony Barr recorded eight tackles, a sack, one pass defended, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and a fumble return touchdown for the overtime win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

It was the first overtime defensive touchdown in Vikings' history. It was the fourth time in NFL history that a player returned a fumble recovery for a touchdown in overtime.

Barr is the first Vikings player to earn the award since Antoine Winfield in 2010 and the first Vikings rookie since Cedric Griffin in 2006.

Barr was selected ninth in the 2014 NFL Draft. He leads all NFL rookies with 3 sacks and is tied for the NFL lead with three fumble recoveries.
