State Patrol: 1 Dead, 2 Hurt In Crash Near Nisswa

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 72-year-old woman was killed and two others were hurt Sunday in a two-vehicle crash near Nisswa, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Authorities were called at about 12:49 p.m. Sunday to the intersection of County Road 103 and County Road 3 in Crow Wing County on report of a broadside crash involving two vehicles. When officers arrived, a 2005 Chevy Silverado was headed southbound on County Road 3 and a 2003 BMW was headed eastbound on County Road 103.

The State Patrol said the BMW failed to yield and the two vehicles crashed. The passenger in the Chevy Silverado was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim was identified as Maureen E. Johnson of Nisswa. The driver of the truck, a 72-year-old Nisswa man, suffered non-life threatening injuries in the crash.

The driver of the BMW, a 51-year-old Golden Valley man, was taken to North Memorial Medical Center with serious injuries.

The State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office.
