Eden Prairie Shooting Looks Like Robbery Gone Bad

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) - Eden Prairie police have arrested an Albertville, Minnesota, man suspected of shooting a man in the head early Saturday morning.

Police say Kelly Neal Anderson, 28, is believed to have shot a 58-year-old man from River Falls, Wisconsin, during an attempted robbery in the parking lot of Jerry's Foods.

The victim suffered severe head trauma, but he was found conscious and transported to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he remains hospitalized.

Anderson was stopped by Bloomington Police while walking along Highway 169 North shortly after the shooting. Police found a handgun near the Anderson Lakes Parkway grocery store.

Anderson was arrested under probable cause for attempted second-degree murder, first-degree aggravated robbery and first-degree assault.

Police say it does not appear that Anderson knew the shooting victim.

He's being held in the Hennepin County Jail as the county attorney's office decides whether to charge him.
