Minnesotans Waking Up To Sub Zero Temperatures
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Residents in western Minnesota woke up Sunday to temperatures below zero, and there isn't a warm-up forecasted to come any time soon.
WCCO-TV forecaster Kylie Bearse said air temperatures early Sunday were minus 4 in Worthington and minus 2 in Alexandria. Factoring in wind chill, it felt closer to minus 20 in those areas.
Overnight Friday, temperatures also dipped below zero in the northern part of the state.
These chilly temperatures are well below the average this time of year.
Clear skies Sunday won't help with the cold, but by evening clouds will move in, bringing the possibility of snow flurries.
Snow, combined with strong winds gusting up to 30 mph, could make for a messy commute Monday morning.
Temperatures on Monday won't likely climb higher than the low 20s across the state, but with the wind, it'll feel below zero for most of the day.
The rest of the work week looks to be chilly, with highs barely breaking out of the teens. The lows look to be in the single digits.
Next Saturday may hold the possibility of a warm-up, with highs just around freezing.
