Rochester Police: Father, Daughter Dead In Apparent Murder-Suicide

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Rochester police say a 9-year-old girl and a 49-year-old man are dead after an apparent murder-suicide Sunday afternoon.

According to Sgt. Josh Thompson, police officers were sent to the 4500 block of 5th Street Northwest just after 4 p.m. When they arrived, they found the girl and man dead inside. They believe their relationship was father and daughter.

Police believe the man shot the girl and then turned the gun on himself, Thompson said.

The incident was contained to the interior of the home and police do not believe there is any risk to the public while their investigation continues.
