1 Dead, 1 Injured After Crash On Snowy Wis. Road

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Snow-covered, slippery roads south of Rice Lake, Wisconsin, played a role in a Monday morning crash that left one driver injured and another dead.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation said the crash happened shortly before 7 a.m. on 19th Street, just south of 18th Avenue. Both drivers involved were wearing seat belts.

One driver was travelling north when she lost control, spun out and into the way of an on-coming SUV. The driver was taken to an area hospital, where she died of her injuries.

The SUV's driver was also hospitalized.

The names of those involved are being held, pending the notification of family.

The Wisconsin State Patrol is investigating the crash.
