ID's Released In Fatal Maple Plain Crash

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities say a 24-year-old woman was killed Tuesday night after a head-on crash on Highway 12 west of the Twin Cities.

The Medina Police Department responded to an accident on Highway 12 at about 9:45 p.m. involving a car and a semi-truck about one mile east of Maple Plan. When officers arrived, a UPS semi-truck hauling tandem trailers was headed eastbound on Highway 12 when a vehicle heading westbound crossed the center line and hit the truck head-on.

The driver of the car was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi-truck was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. The Minnesota State Patrol is providing assistance to the Medina Police Department with the investigation.

On Wednesday afternoon, the deceased victim was identified as Jamie Lee Whipperman of Plymouth. The semi-driver is identified as 57-year-old Ali Reza Zar of New London.
